Dermaplaning is a very effective exfoliator for the skin. Using a surgical scalpel, the procedure removes the dead skin cells from the Stratum Corneum which is made up of cell at the end of their natural regeneration cycle. Making your skin look dull, discoloured and not smooth to touch.
Dermaplaning is similar to microdermabrasion procedures in that it removes your dead skin cells, helps to gradually reducse hyperpifmentation and helps with the appearance of wrinkles. The difference being that microdermabrasion removes dead skin cells using an exfoliating technique, also uses slight suction to help unclog pores.
Minus the suction aspect, dermaplaning also removes the vellus hair also known as “peach fuzz”. Making this treatment extra popular with models and actresses in that it helps their make up go on flawlessly. The removal of you vellus hair does not upset the hair cycle, the root or type of hair. Therefore, vellus hair will grow back as vellus hair.
We also offer combination packages. The removal of the dead skin cells will leave your skin fresh and make other treatments work even better. Therefore, our amazing Obagi Skin Peels, Pro-Facial and LED Therapy give outstanding results when combined with dermaplaning.
If you have active acne or exacerbation of rosacea we would be able to offer alternative treatments. Pregnancy can also give the added risk of causing a melasma mask during the pregnancy.
